Celebrating Dragon Boat Festival @ Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital

29 May 2024, was a very special day for SG Cash as we embarked on our Bi-annual CSR programme, led by our CEO, Mr Kenneth Koh, at Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital (KWSH). This was our 4th visit to KWSH since 2022.

Preparation work for this CSR event started 4 weeks ago with the planning done by all our colleagues from the various departments.

As the Dragon Boat Festival (端午节) is around the corner, we decided to incorporate a Dumpling Making Session for all the residents who attended our CSR event. We were delighted that they enjoyed the session very much and were touched by their happy faces and beautiful smiles.

After the making of the dumplings, the residents were treated to traditional Hokkien dumplings as part of their afternoon tea break. These were bought from the famous Kim Choo Kueh Chang at Joo Chiat. We were heartened to see them eating away happily as it was rare for them to eat dumplings at the nursing home unless during special occasions.

Our Interns from Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University Singapore (NTU) also brainstormed and created a slew of fun and exciting games such as mini basketball, maze board game, etc for the residents to participate in. To ensure the residents remained active throughout the games segment, we encouraged them to use both of their hands to play the respective games, which most of them did.

In addition, one of our senior colleagues also sang a couple of Chinese oldies and songs in Hokkien and Cantonese dialect to help the residents reminisce the good old times.

The event culminated on a high note when our CEO, Mr Kenneth Koh, distributed the goodie bags to all the residents who attended the event as the final Chinese song “Gift of Love (爱的礼物)” was sang by the volunteers.

It was indeed a very heartwarming and meaningful afternoon for all of us at SG Cash.

On this note, we would like to take this opportunity to extend our sincerest gratitude to all our staff and colleagues for always putting in their best effort in organising this CSR event. We will continue to do our best and contribute to society in whichever way possible.
