I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for the invaluable summer internship experience as a Credit & Risk Management intern at SG Cash Pte Ltd. My name is Peggy Ong Pei Qi, and I am a penultimate year student at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), pursuing a Bachelor of Business with a specialisation in Banking and Finance.
My internship at SG Cash has been a very meaningful chapter of my journey. Going in, I was curious to learn how SME financing worked but what I walked away with was so much more than technical knowledge. Over these ten weeks, I was given the rare opportunity to immerse myself in real credit risk work, from reviewing loan applications to participating in site visits and interviews. These weren’t just simulated tasks but real decisions that impacted real businesses, and that level of trust made the experience incredibly fulfilling.
One of the most eye-opening parts of my internship was being exposed to such a wide range of industries. From logistics, F&B to education, each loan application gave me a glimpse into how different businesses operate, the challenges they face, and the resilience it takes to keep them running. It was incredibly rewarding to learn how to assess creditworthiness in such varied contexts, each case sharpening my ability to adapt, ask the right questions, and connect the dots across financial data and business realities.
What made this internship truly special though, was the team. From day one, we were treated not just as interns, but as valued members of the company. Whether it was readily clarifying our doubts on analysis of a loan application or preparing for interview questions, the guidance and encouragement from my supervisors kept me going. Their openness to share knowledge and give us space to grow made a lasting impact on me, both professionally and personally.
Looking back, this internship has deepened my appreciation for the delicate balance between human judgment and financial analysis. It has shown me the responsibility that comes with lending decisions, and the care that SG Cash puts into supporting SMEs. I’m walking away not only with sharper skills, but with a renewed sense of purpose and a heart full of gratitude. Thank you, SG Cash, for such an enriching summer and I highly recommend this internship to anyone seeking a meaningful internship with valuable exposure.
