Postgraduate Internship 2025

March 2025 – May 2025

I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for the enriching experience I had during my internship at SG Cash. As a Graduate student majoring in Business Analytics, I was eager to apply my academic knowledge in a real-world setting, and SG Cash provided the perfect platform for this.

During my internship, I was actively involved in conducting comprehensive market research on SME financing trends in Singapore. This included analyzing competitor offerings and identifying gaps in the market, which enhanced my understanding of the financial landscape and strategic positioning.

In terms of data analysis, I utilized Python and Excel to clean and process large datasets, applying statistical methods and data visualization techniques to derive actionable insights. This hands-on experience allowed me to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, significantly improving my analytical skills.

Additionally, I had the opportunity to participate in site visits to various SME clients. These visits provided valuable insights into the operational challenges faced by SMEs and the importance of personalized financial solutions. Engaging directly with clients enhanced my communication skills and deepened my understanding of credit assessment processes.

The supportive and collaborative environment at SG Cash was instrumental in my professional growth. Mentorship from experienced colleagues offered guidance and constructive feedback, fostering a culture of continuous learning.

Overall, my internship at SG Cash was a transformative experience that solidified my interest in the financial industry. I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects and develop skills that will be invaluable in my future career.

I highly recommend SG Cash’s internship program to students seeking a comprehensive and hands-on experience in finance.

Summer Internship 2025

May 2025 – July 2025

My internship at SG Cash has been an enriching and transformative experience. Coming in with a keen interest in SME financing, I was eager to understand how credit decisions were made in the real world. Over the weeks, I had the opportunity to be deeply involved in the credit assessment process, from reviewing loan applications and evaluating guarantor profiles, to understanding business models and calculating repayment capacity. The hands-on exposure allowed me to build a solid foundation in credit evaluation, while also strengthening my analytical and problem-solving skills.

One of the most valuable aspects of this internship was the strong emphasis on learning through doing. Each case I worked on presented unique business situations that required critical thinking and adaptability. I gained confidence in interpreting financial documents, identifying risk indicators, and understanding how SME financing decisions are structured. The site visits to client premises further deepened my perspective, helping me connect theoretical knowledge with practical business realities. These experiences taught me to assess not just numbers, but also business viability and character, which are key components in credit judgment.

I am especially grateful for the mentorship and support provided by the team. The working environment at SG Cash was both fast-paced and collaborative. My colleagues were generous with their time and insights, always ready to offer guidance and share their experience.

Overall, this internship has been more than just a learning opportunity, it was a platform for growth. It has affirmed my interest in the credit and finance industry and given me clarity on the type of professional I aspire to become. I am truly thankful for the trust, exposure, and support I received during my time at SG Cash, and I will carry the lessons learned here with me in the next stage of my journey.

I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for the invaluable summer internship experience as a Credit & Risk Management intern at SG Cash Pte Ltd. My name is Peggy Ong Pei Qi, and I am a penultimate year student at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), pursuing a Bachelor of Business with a specialisation in Banking and Finance.

My internship at SG Cash has been a very meaningful chapter of my journey. Going in, I was curious to learn how SME financing worked but what I walked away with was so much more than technical knowledge. Over these ten weeks, I was given the rare opportunity to immerse myself in real credit risk work, from reviewing loan applications to participating in site visits and interviews. These weren’t just simulated tasks but real decisions that impacted real businesses, and that level of trust made the experience incredibly fulfilling.

One of the most eye-opening parts of my internship was being exposed to such a wide range of industries. From logistics, F&B to education, each loan application gave me a glimpse into how different businesses operate, the challenges they face, and the resilience it takes to keep them running. It was incredibly rewarding to learn how to assess creditworthiness in such varied contexts, each case sharpening my ability to adapt, ask the right questions, and connect the dots across financial data and business realities.

What made this internship truly special though, was the team. From day one, we were treated not just as interns, but as valued members of the company. Whether it was readily clarifying our doubts on analysis of a loan application or preparing for interview questions, the guidance and encouragement from my supervisors kept me going. Their openness to share knowledge and give us space to grow made a lasting impact on me, both professionally and personally.

Looking back, this internship has deepened my appreciation for the delicate balance between human judgment and financial analysis. It has shown me the responsibility that comes with lending decisions, and the care that SG Cash puts into supporting SMEs. I’m walking away not only with sharper skills, but with a renewed sense of purpose and a heart full of gratitude. Thank you, SG Cash, for such an enriching summer and I highly recommend this internship to anyone seeking a meaningful internship with valuable exposure.

This experience allowed me to assess cash flow sustainability and repayment capacity across SMEs operating in different industries, while learning the importance of adopting a holistic approach to credit assessment beyond financial statements alone. As a result, I strengthened my analytical judgement and developed a more structured and disciplined approach to credit risk evaluation.

Additionally, the professional, supportive, and collaborative environment at SG Cash played an important role in my development.
