I’m William Neo, a final-year NTU student pursuing a double degree in Accountancy and Business. This winter, I had the privilege of interning at SG Cash, an exempted corporate lending company, where I gained invaluable insights into the credit risk and management field.
During my time at SG Cash, I developed a solid understanding of the five key documents essential for assessing SME loan applications: NRIC, Credit Bureau Singapore (CBS) reports, Notices of Assessment (NOA), financial statements, and bank statements. Through detailed case studies, I applied this knowledge to evaluate the feasibility of extending loans to businesses, which deepened my analytical and decision-making skills.
Beyond the technical aspects, the internship was incredibly fulfilling on a personal level. One of the highlights was organizing and participating in a CSR event at Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital. Together with my fellow interns, we brought Christmas cheer to elderly residents by hosting games, crafting sessions, and even dressing up as festive characters. Celebrating the holidays with them was both heartwarming and humbling, leaving a lasting impact on all of us.
The work culture at SG Cash stood out for its warmth and inclusivity. Kenneth, our CEO, was exceptionally generous with his time and knowledge, sharing candidly about his experiences in the industry and hosting us for a memorable farewell dinner. Our managers, Hong Ting and Evelyn, were equally supportive, always eager to mentor and guide us. Their expertise and willingness to share insights into credit and risk management made the learning experience immensely enriching.
Looking back, this internship was not just a learning opportunity but also a journey of personal growth and connection. I am deeply grateful to SG Cash for the welcoming environment, the skills I’ve gained, and the memories created. I leave this experience inspired and better equipped for my future endeavors.
Thank you, SG Cash, for an unforgettable winter!
